E-Victims.Org
Unfortunately, in September 2010 the charity closed due to funding cuts. It was the only charity providing support to victims of all e-crime.
The E-Victims Organisation was a charity founded by Jennifer and Roland Perry. It was established to help victims of any e-crime. It gave practical advice including:
- Which agencies victims should contact to report the crime.
- Support charities that could offer additional assistance.
- What laws applied to their situation and how to use them.
- Where to complain e.g. industry regulators and ombudsmen.
- Most importantly, it offered practical, easy to use advice on the most common online problems with a full set of factsheets.
During its operation, the charity helped over 4,000 victims, 200,000 used the advice on our website and we identified a multi-million-pound UK based fraud which was investigated by Trading Standards.
