Unfortunately, if you paid with a debit card or a wire transfer you are not covered for the loss.

In order to recover your loss you will have to take the seller to court. If it is under £5,000 you can use the Small Claims Court. More information about going to court can be found on the Citizens Advice Bureau website.

If the claim is against someone who is difficult to trace, or has no money, you may have to write the loss off to experience.
