e-shopping & auctions > e-shopping > My package was damaged in the post who should I complain to?

If your package from a retailer was damaged in transit you should contact the seller not the courier company.

The contract is between the sender and the carrier company so you will be unable to make a claim. It is the seller's responsibility to make a claim.

However, to do so they will need the damaged item and all the packaging. The sender should arrange for you to return the packaging and contents to him. The sender should replace the item or refund your money.

If you bought from an individual (for example in an online auction) and they offered and you paid for insurance, then they must make a claim on your behalf.
