e-shopping & auctions > e-shopping > I want to do a return but the trader refuses to give me his address

There are several places you can check for the company registered address.

You can try looking the company up on the Companies House or Yellow Pages website.

If the seller has his own website with their own domain name, it may be possible to find out how to contact them by searching on a 'Who is' search engine, such as www.truewhois.com or Nominet (UK domains only).

If your purchase was between £100-£30,000 and you paid by credit card then you can ask your credit card company for your money back. This is because under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, the credit card issuer is jointly liable if the goods received are defective or aren't delivered. So, contact your credit card company for assistance.

If you purchase is under £100 or you paid by debt card, you will have to try to recover your money through the courts. Debt cards are not protected under the Consumer Credit Act.

Contact the Citizens Advice Bureau for more information about going to court.
