If a product breaks in the first 6 months then the retailer has to address the problem.

Since 2003, if a product becomes defective with in the first six months of purchase, there's a presumption that they were defective when they were bought, in which case the seller is in breach of contract (Section 14 Sale of Goods Act).

The buyer is entitled to have goods repaired free of charge. If a repair is impossible or would cause considerable inconvenience to the customer, then they are entitled to replacement goods.
